Community Art Project
The premise is simple: pick a creative project, do it every day in February, then show your work the following month in a big group art show!
Do this project at the comfort of your own home (office, studio.. anywhere you feel creative!) and then show it with everyone else during the group art show. Don’t forget to share your ideas and progress!
Any projects and mediums are welcome, but modest goals and small projects seem to get done more often. This is a great chance to do a small thing in a medium you have wanted to try, but had no excuse. Or maybe do that ridiculous comic strip. Or whatever it is that you want to do!
Started in 2004 by a group of friends in Philadelphia, Fun-A-Day began as a way to stay creative and motivate each other to make things through the winter. Now in its 16th year, Fun-A-Day has grown from its Philadelphia roots—in 2014 there were 17 Fun-A-Day shows, organized by different art collectives and groups of friends across the country, including Dubuque!
Once again, Dubuque is joining in! This community art project is open to ALL AGES and is FREE for anyone to participate. Let us know what you’re planning to do by submitting it on the “Projects” page, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
And please, help us spread the word! Like us on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/funadaydubuque), tell your Grandma, your cousin, your eccentric next-door-neighbor—everyone needs a bit of fun in the winter months!
